I am finishing up the weekend in a satisfied state of mind. All winter long, I just wanted one legit snowfall. I was beginning to lose faith after a couple 60 degree days but God has a way of surprising us I guess. There must be 7 inches out there right now! As I look outside, I get a peaceful, tranquil vibe. Pretty literally, I am the only person awake in the neighborhood. Both my roommates are asleep and for those of you who don't know, I live in a community with a lot of families. All the houses are dark save for the glistening porch lights. It's times like these that you just have to thank God for His creation.
Usually, my weekends consist of hanging out with friends, playing basketball, and other relaxing activities. This weekend was a little different. On Saturday, there was a pancake breakfast for everyone interested in leading a Cru Bible study. Knowing it was a three hour ordeal, I was fairly unmotivated to get out of bed after 5 hours of sleep. Jeff Highfield, the director for Cru at Virginia Tech spoke at the breakfast. Despite my near comatose condition, I really got a lot out of it. Jeff is an excellent speaker and a man in a close walk with Christ. The 3 hours whizzed by and I will definitely apply to be a study leader with one of my roommates. On Sunday, I was planning on going to Northstar Church at Blacksburg Middle but I overslept. I felt awful. I havent missed a class this year but I missed church. I'll try again after spring break. Anyway, this afternoon I attended the third session of Authentic Manhood. It's a study to help young men realize what their purpose is and how to live out a Godly lifestyle. I have actually gotten so much out of this course. Today's session in particular was great. Jeff Highfield was our speaker (surprise, surprise). He talked abotut the stages of manhood and the expectations, pressures, failures, and successes that go along with each. I would suggest that any college age guy take a course like this one before graduating.
Well that's it for today. I've got a light week ahead of me and hopefully it will start off with a snow day!
Peace
